Living in Colorado Springs, most of my work is inspired by the beauty of nature and the majestic landscapes that surround me. My paintings celebrate the love and admiration that I feel towards these spaces, and embody the sense of spirituality that one experiences when in the presence of nature. In my work, I enjoy using vivid colors that sing on the canvas, as well as impressionistic, loose brushstrokes that reflect a sense of abandon and freedom. With each painting, I begin the process by absorbing inspiring elements from my surroundings, such as the mountains, the ocean, flowers, people, or animals. Next, I find a style of music that matches my present mood, and fall into a state of mindfulness. Once the brush meets the canvas, the painting takes me to a new place of tranquility and beauty. To fully realize my vision, I use a wide range of materials including acrylic, pen and ink, and wood burning. With my abstract interpretations of nature, I aim to connect others with the natural world and help them to view the world as I do: A beautiful, colorful, peaceful and chaotic journey.
Britta Hennessey grew up in the Pacific Northwest, where she learned to adore nature as a young girl. Having loved drawing as a child, Britta began to create more and more as a teenager, with her form of expression gradually evolving from drawing to painting in her early 20s. In her earlier years, Van Gogh’s use of color and his depictions of natural landscapes were a major source of inspiration for Britta, who strove to interpret nature in her own unique way. Since meeting her husband, a musician, Britta has drawn inspiration from his music. Drawn to the Rocky Mountains and their magnificent natural beauty, Britta currently lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Influenced by the environment around her, Britta’s work has grown in scale, subject and complexity, with Britta aiming to share her love of nature with others through her beautiful, vivid landscapes. Britta also has two small dogs that she adores, and started doing pet portraits as a way to capture their big personalities. This prompted her to create her own collective for pet artists, Pawesome Pet Art, which she continues to operate today. With each piece she creates, Britta aims to bring beauty and joy to the lives of others.
