Ready to Hang
I like to challenge conventions by fusing all artistic styles. I mostly paint with an Asian-inspired aesthetic that's laced with Impressionism and Expressionism, sometimes drifting into abstraction. I believe that essence or "qi" is the most essential element of a painting and try to infuse my work with vigorous energy and raw emotion. I grasp onto fresh perspectives of scenes, sentiments or intricacies drawn from the world around me. It could be a view out of window, a leaf in my garden, a seemingly magical moment from an outdoor adventure or simply a feeling so charged I can hardly stop myself from capturing it in any crazy complex form it comes out in.
Briana Lyon is an Artist and Designer who lives in Pasadena, California. Born and raised in greater Los Angeles. She studied art history, design and literature in Orange, CA and Vancouver, Canada. Briana has always been a painter, largely self-taught form an early age, she devoted her education to complimentary arts disciplines. Briana has exhibited her paintings in the United States and Canada where many hang permanently in many private collections. She was awarded a visual artist residency at the prestigious Banff Centre in 2013 and a position on Gordan Halloran's Paintings Below Zero team for the Vancouver Olympics "Ice Gate 2010."
