I originally started this piece with the idea of just painting/practicing clouds. I decided that we were seeing the edge of a storm as it started taking an allegorical turn.
I named the piece 'Through the Storm' as it started to remind me of things I have been through. It became a reminder that whatever struggles we may be dealing with in life, if we persevere through them, we will be made stronger.
I'm a self taught artist. I practice both traditional and digital art. I start my work at the crossroad between reality and imagination. I use real life references but allow each stage of a work to be spontaneous and change itself as it moves along. Most of my ideas come from a sense/theme or feeling I wish to convey, or of a place I'd enjoy going. I try to capture the places we all imagine in the back of our minds: The thrilling, magical, and adventurous. My artwork ranges from realism, impressionistic and painterly. I enjoy creating landscapes, seascapes, skyscapes, and emotive portraits. Creating a world with a sense of light, depth and texture has always been exciting and magical to me.
