When I made this piece I started by trying to really capture a high impact and colorful abstract motif. The heart became an afterthought I pursued when the white paint I slung across the canvas took the shape of a heart which I then accentuated with indentations I made in the paint. I called this piece the chaotic heart because the symbol of the heart rose from the chaotic and random action of throwing paint at a canvas. As with all of my acrylic pieces, it is covered with several layers of a clear matte sealant to help preserve the piece.
As a child my high functioning autism made it hard to communicate with the world. My mother, a former art therapist who had previously worked with Autistic adults began doing art therapy with me. Through art I found my voice. Each day I paint or make art on my computer as a way to process my day and express myself emotionally. Art is a part of who I have become and I try to bring that creativity to everything I do.
