This Original Watercolor Painting, a 7" X 10" (12" x 15 " matted and framed) painted on very fine Arches 140 lb cold press paper. The painting is the result of a photograph that moved me in a very profound way. I call the piece "Proud and strong stands a winter tree". I was emotionally moved because the tree reminded me of our nation's protectors, the brave men and women of the military, standing proud and strong to keep America safe in these trying times...like this proud winter tree standing guard over the land, far and wide. I was moved so much I was compelled to paint it. So here it is....enjoy! And thank you for your interest in my work. I'm confident you can find a place in your home or office where the lonely tree will not feel so lonely any more.

My name is Bill Pratt. I am a new Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. A little about me: I watched my wife paint for many years and was very inspired by her work. Then unexpectedly one day she had a minor 'stroke' which sadly, took away her ability to paint anything at all. It was like taking out a portion of her heart...I wept inside my own complete heart and decided to take up where she left off....having no experience in the world of art, other than my appreciation of it. I took a class in 'watercolor painting' in June, 2015. I was hooked instantly. I wondered why I had never before tried my hand at painting. It was as if Annie's 'talent with the brush' transferred from her to me - truly astounding, considering the fact that I have never had any painting ability - other than 20 years of doing graphic designs and pinstripes on automobiles and trucks -- a totally different thing from painting on watercolor paper! So here am I at the ripe age of 71, a full 10 years after my retirement from financial planning, embarking on a new adventure with watercolor paint and paper. I hope you enjoy the results of my new adventure.
