Ready to Hang
An Original Watercolor, 12" x 16" on Arches 140 lb cold pressed paper (19" x 23" matted and framed, ready to hang) I took this dramatic close up picture in my garden and posted it on Facebook. My niece saw the posting and suggested I paint it. I had no idea what I was getting into with this piece. I spent 30 hours of "Tender Loving Care" on the colorful piece. FYI, the ant was not in the reference photo...I had accidentally spilled a drop of 'permanent' red color on a pink petal that would not wash out. Solution: Use another photo from the garden of an up- close ant. So I painted the ant over the dreaded red spot. This bold and colorful piece will make a dramatic addition to your home of office art collection. As something quite unique, It might also make a great gift for your wife, mother, daughter, or girlfriend. Enjoy and thanks for viewing my lovely "Bee on a pink rose!"
My name is Bill Pratt. I am a new Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. A little about me: I watched my wife paint for many years and was very inspired by her work. Then unexpectedly one day she had a minor 'stroke' which sadly, took away her ability to paint anything at all. It was like taking out a portion of her heart...I wept inside my own complete heart and decided to take up where she left off....having no experience in the world of art, other than my appreciation of it. I took a class in 'watercolor painting' in June, 2015. I was hooked instantly. I wondered why I had never before tried my hand at painting. It was as if Annie's 'talent with the brush' transferred from her to me - truly astounding, considering the fact that I have never had any painting ability - other than 20 years of doing graphic designs and pinstripes on automobiles and trucks -- a totally different thing from painting on watercolor paper! So here am I at the ripe age of 71, a full 10 years after my retirement from financial planning, embarking on a new adventure with watercolor paint and paper. I hope you enjoy the results of my new adventure.
