Ready to Hang
I paint because I need the creative release and freedom of expression it allows me. I love to be in my studio among all of my stuff just soaking in their vibes. I paint on watercolor paper and canvas using different techniques for each support. When I begin a painting I am only thinking about composition and color at first, I usually have no preconceived plans. I may start by applying texture and then paint or by pouring several colors of liquid acrylics with stencils or stamps then reigning in the chaos. I like to build up my work in layers of transparent colors adjusting for value and composition as I go. It's a process that takes a lot of thought and can change radically before I consider it complete. I love to try new things and learn new techniques. My goal is to continually grow as an abstract artist.
I have enjoyed painting as long as I can remember. I started taking classes at my local art center as my children grew and I retired. Now I spend most of my free time painting. I am a member of the Florida Watercolor Society and a signature member of the International Society of Experimental Artists and the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society. My art has been accepted into many prestigious juried shows for which I have won several awards. I work in oil, acrylic, mixed media and encaustic. Although I paint representational pieces, my real love is abstract art. I believe it is the most unique expression an artist can render.
