This piece is titled "Red and Black Flowers", and is part of a series of abstract floral paintings that explore the relationships and interaction between different colors and shapes. My inspiration came from how certain colors look different when combined with other colors, and how this occurs in nature. I didn't have a plan when starting this painting, as I wanted the process of finding different combinations to happen naturally. I was also inspired by the shapes that flowers can make when reduced to simple forms, such as circles and lines.
I'm a watercolor artist currently living and working in San Francisco. I work mostly on paper, but on canvas and with 3-dimensional pieces occasionally. My work focuses on introspection and solitude through the use of the figure.
