In my recent works, I want to explore the relationship of light and dark and how we perceive these ideas in our world. Our upbringing and past experiences place layers of context on us that construct our worldview. We wear these layers like clothing. The use of watercolor layers and cut paper garments express this metaphor. Whether stained and shameful or sturdy and protective, the layers of clothing we perceive ourselves to be wearing tell us who we are.
I'm a watercolor artist currently living and working in San Francisco. I work mostly on paper, but on canvas and with 3-dimensional pieces occasionally. My work focuses on introspection and solitude through the use of the figure.
