This painting is from a series titled Flora. All the flowers in the series are found source material either from the internet, nature, magazines, or photographs. I manipulate each image in photo shop by breaking down complex compositions into abstract lines and shapes. I then project the modified image onto a canvas or panel and trace the simple shapes so as to rebuild the image layer by layer.

. Blue roses cannot be found in nature, at least not the pure blue rose.. Roses lack the pigment that produces blue color.

Much like its secret origin, the blue rose represents mystery. An appreciation for the enigmatic, A tantalizing vision that cannot be totally nailed down, a secret that cannot be fully unraveled. One who receives a blue rose is the subject of much speculation and thought. A complex personality that does not allow easy interpretation, an impossible dream.
