An airbrushed Portrait of the legendary, Chicago blues man, Junior Wells. Premium grade canvas, 1.5" thick with painted edges.
I was raised as the son of a mother whom worked as a commercial artist and grandson to a Sears Roebuck Co. staff artist. I studied art in rural Iowa, in Rome, Italy, Chicago and now Rockford, IL From an early age I was fascinated by the versatility and uniqueness of the airbrush. I submerged myself in every technical aspect, learning popular uses and technics. Today I continue to master the tool, exploring freehand usage. I paint on canvas and wood panel with airbrush acrylic paint. For the last several years, painting techniques, textures, forms and colors have been my focal point. My main subjects matters have been: Portraits, faces of cultural heroes, masters of jazz, famous writers, artist and musicians of all kinds. The goal of each piece always is to capture the expression and emotion of the subject, many times capturing the musician in the moment. Live Painting. I spent a lot of time painting in Chicago. I love the instant feedback of viewers and sharing the process of creating.
Palmer Square Studios, is the fine art studio of visual artist Ben Laskov, located in Rockford,IL (near Chicago). Specializing currently in airbrushed paintings on Canvas. Available for commissions of painting and murals and always searching for new artistic and creative adventures. Many currant paintings are inspired by music and the master musicians that create it. The artist, Ben Laskov, has studied art spanning thought rural Iowa, Italy, returning to Chicago and now the quaint, spacious Rockford, IL Although, interested in most art forms, painting is his main discipline. With a history of working in Oil, he now concentrates on the use of fluid acrylic paints using an Airbrush. This allows for a similar ‘layering’ effect found with Oils. The quick drying times and color changes are conducive to his painting style, and to rich colors and dramatic gradations. Ben Laskov of Palmer Square Studios can be found at Chicagoland art festivals, or live painting all around Chicago and larger music festivals.
