The original painting of the same title name, by Camille Pissarro in 1883, was my inspiration for this painting. It is unlike his usual style. As a reprieve from landscapes, he began a series depicting women in their work, both in the fields and in the home.
All of my life, I have been surrounded by art. I have a high appreciation for it in all forms, and I especially like oil paintings and sculpture. Lately I've been learning from and inspired by history's artists, especially the brave ones who went out of societies' norms to express themselves, the Impressionists. Most of all, I appreciate and am inspired by the art in nature that was created for us, and by my family and friends who now make requests for their next birthday gift. I am relatively new to producing art. In November, 2013, I painted my first canvas ever. It was at "Paint Nite" with a friend and a glass of wine. I was instantly hooked. I have painted over 100 canvases now and have learned something valuable from each one... for "the next one". I am currently enrolled in The Drawing Academy and plan to pursue art as a student for, at least, the next ten years. My goal is to become a fine artist, in the style of the "old masters", and to encourage anyone, with a desire, to pursue their own creative side. I am a former franchisee for one of the top pizza companies in the world -20 years and 8 stores. I have two Masters' degrees and a love of learning and creating. I believe that a large part of my newly found ability to paint has come from no longer owning a business. Thank you for your interest, comment, and support. Becca
