I first tried watercolor in 2004 and never looked back. I love the translucent properties of the medium, and the challenge of “saving your whites.” I enjoy painting florals that dance with light, inspired by my love of gardening and of roses in particular. This rose, named "Broadway" virtually glows with neon light.

Barbara Todd was born in Wisconsin and attended college there and in Syracuse, New York. After graduate school, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue a career in finance. Throughout her professional career, she was invariably involved in some creative endeavor to balance her analytical side, including theater, ballroom dance and art. In 2004, Barbara decided to leave the finance industry to pursue her artistic side. She earned a degree in Multimedia Art and Technology and is now a freelance web designer as well as a traditional artist. She has studied with various San Francisco Bay Area artists including Julie Andrews, Joyce Faulknor, Guy Magallanes, Kay Carney and Stewart Givot, and continues to take classes to further her art education.
