‘Painterly Realism’ is my theme. My artwork is an interpretation of photographs taken on many a trip to Europe. Palette knife techniques create heavier textures and beautiful blends of color to give rustic, old world feeling to my work.

My name is Barbara Swan. I am a Vango artist. My career in art started with exposure to the design world and architecture. European travels added to my love of all things Italian - from stairways, doorways, gardens, to columns and ruins. When painting became my passion, I wanted to interpret that love onto canvas. I try to bring 'painterly realism' to my work. Vivid colors, use of palette knife techniques, heavier textures, and European themes dominate my interest. I currently live in Florida and travel often to Europe for new inspiration. Thank you for viewing my portfolio, I hope you enjoy my work. bbswan@verizon.net.
