My name is Barbara Criner and I am a visual artist. I paint, sculpt and do fiber art.
The paintings that I do are usually portraits; because I find people fascinating and challenging.
Before I start painting I usually take a few moments to get to know the subject by studying them.
This allows me to get a feeling for the personality of the person and to tell their story.
I consider myself a storyteller I paint because there is a story that I won’t to tell; a moment in time to capture; preserve and hold on to.

My name Barbara Criner and I live in Georgia. I moved here in the in the nineties from California. I started working on my art degree by attending the Academy of Art College in San Francisco California. Although I moved to Georgia before I completed my studies I have continued to study by taking workshops. Most of the paintings that I do are portraits; because I find people fascinating and challenging. I usually paint in oil which is my preferred medium. Before I start painting I usually take a few moments to get to know my subject that I am about to paint by studying them. This allows me to get a feeling of their personality. When painting I try to tell a story about the person I am painting.
