I have always been filled with such admiration to Italy, their architecture and rich culture leaves me at awe. A dear friend had the opportunity to travel there, bringing back photos of scenery. One that caught my eye was a bridge in Venice, Italy, absolutely breathtaking over a remarkable river with rich colors that aspired me to bring to life. I used a mixture of acrylic paint on hardboard, giving a hint of texture and a vibe of simplicity.
Ayah is predominantly an acrylic painter but utilizes other mediums if it serves the notion of the piece. She works from historical studies, experiences, small photo references, or thoughts and incorporates them onto larger scaled paintings and drawings. Her work is represented in the publications of the FC Dallas Dr.Pepper Calendars and Sports Illustration Magazine 2008-2012. She is certified from The Art Instruction School of Minneapolis and has reached recognition in state level competitions. She’s drawn to the beauty of unfolding certain events and experiences whether it’s a fleeting moment, or a simple thought; finding it an essence, a core nature to translate or unravel the little things in life people miss to see and often forget. The world has so much beauty to offer and given the ability to express these aspects; what she sees and feels, compels her to bring those same feelings and visions to life for each viewer.
