The reason I chose the title Pears because I wanted to keep the title to the point and uncomplicated. Didn't want to complicate such a beautiful subject matter it because it speaks for itself.
I created this piece early in 2015 during my study of composition and color. I also used a very limited pallet for the creation of this piece in my efforts to keep color balance.
My inspiration in creating this piece happened when my wife visited a local market to purchase D' Anjou and Bosc pears. The colors were bright, vibrant so I had to paint a picture of them. Not to mention they tasted as good as they appear too.
My name is Avon Miles jr. I am a Vango artist. I first picked up a brush and began to paint when he was four years old. I graduated from Hopewell High School. I have an associate’s degree in graphic arts and communication from ITT Technical Institute. I held other jobs after high school and made art on the side. I joined the U.S. Navy in 2003 as a corpsman, or a hospital medic. He served for about eight years before being honorably discharged in 2011. During my time serving in the military, I won first place in the Naval Women’s Day poster contest in 2009 and two flag contest “I won more awards for being an artist in the Navy than anything medical,”. While in high school, I won third place in the 1994 Congressional Art Competition and second place in the Petersburg Area Art League Student Art Award. Since returning to Hopewell in 2011, I have become full-time artists and have opened a art space called Selim Nova Art Studio which I co own with my beautiful wife Tessie, we have been producing commissioned work for businesses and individuals for over two decades. Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
