Normally most of my portraits are from my imagination. I "see" faces in everything. If I am not sure what to draw or paint, I can focus on the paper or canvas and a face will appear. Or there are times when I just let it develop by itself by letting the instrument, pencil, pen, brush, move more or less on its own.
I have been recently trying to be more free with my pieces, using new and unusual items, for me anyway, to create pieces that are "out of the box." I have always been tight with my portraits, and have been experimenting with new and inventive mediums, which have been fun, and a learning experience.
