This is a figurative painting created by an intuitive hand. The process is autonomous and had no reference or preconceived notion of what I was going to paint initially. This is the continuation of a series that I started back in 2005 and recently revisited in the summer of 2015.

Studio-based fine artist from Denton, TX. Augustine Cordero works with a variety of mediums. His subjects range from identity and desire to popular culture and intuition. Sometimes his work takes a surrealist angle. While at other times the aesthetic arrives by way of autonomy. Currently, his investigations involve the diverse forms of historical and material influences that the East has had on the West and vise versa. This emphasis is particularly apparent in the form of sex and consumerism. An influence that he believes has deep roots in the history of all cultures and their survival.
