Ready to Hang
The reason I chose the title for this piece is due to its dark, yet playful atmosphere. Many of my pieces are made with a tangent to low brow genres. In this particular case; horror B movies.
Created this piece in May of 2015, it was on display in the Voertman's Gallery from May 2015 to June 2015.
Most of my process is autonomous with no reference material used and no preconceived notion of what I was going to paint. An intuitive process.
Studio-based fine artist from Denton, TX. Augustine Cordero works with a variety of mediums. His subjects range from identity and desire to popular culture and intuition. Sometimes his work takes a surrealist angle. While at other times the aesthetic arrives by way of autonomy. Currently, his investigations involve the diverse forms of historical and material influences that the East has had on the West and vise versa. This emphasis is particularly apparent in the form of sex and consumerism. An influence that he believes has deep roots in the history of all cultures and their survival.
