The piece "If He Dies, He Dies" is related to attitudes and ethics that exists between persons when expression and voice meet challenge or opposition online. There's a cruel and sometimes dismissive, hard-headed, undertone present when being competitive with strangers on the net. I've both trolled and received haggling from others alike. Perhaps its the anonymity that brings forth the worst in us; feeling protected by the veil of the web while we do our worst.
Studio-based fine artist from Denton, TX. Augustine Cordero works with a variety of mediums. His subjects range from identity and desire to popular culture and intuition. Sometimes his work takes a surrealist angle. While at other times the aesthetic arrives by way of autonomy. Currently, his investigations involve the diverse forms of historical and material influences that the East has had on the West and vise versa. This emphasis is particularly apparent in the form of sex and consumerism. An influence that he believes has deep roots in the history of all cultures and their survival.
