The title of this piece was chosen based on personal experience. Fluid in suspension is essentially referring to insemination and procreation. Desire and chance create a conduit for human beings. This work, of automatic abstract drawing, is connected to my ongoing investigation of identity and desire through intuition. Made within the 1st quarter of 2015 and was on display at the Voertman's Gallery from June 2015 to July 2015. Its a work on an art board that involved a process that was intuitive in nature. This is an autonomous technique where I don't use any reference images and work until I arrive at a point of balance with form, color, and juxtaposition.
Studio-based fine artist from Denton, TX. Augustine Cordero works with a variety of mediums. His subjects range from identity and desire to popular culture and intuition. Sometimes his work takes a surrealist angle. While at other times the aesthetic arrives by way of autonomy. Currently, his investigations involve the diverse forms of historical and material influences that the East has had on the West and vise versa. This emphasis is particularly apparent in the form of sex and consumerism. An influence that he believes has deep roots in the history of all cultures and their survival.
