This piece has early pod imagery referencing cyclical stages of life. The hairpins are traced from hairpins my conservative grandmother had given to me and the ribbons stem from a memory of her gown in the hospital just before she died. This piece is rich with personal symbols relating motherhood, femininity, submission that are portrayed in ways that become graphic, repetitive, beautiful marks.
