There is a movie that I love to watch every year. This piece is all of the ideas of a certain scene that involves a teenage girl from South Carolina, a senator's wife and a shag contest. It's a classic movie.
Art is fun you guys. It doesn't have to be so complicated. I imagine this piece to have an independent, strong, confident feminine personality. She asks no permission to hang there and is perfectly happy sitting alone in her fancy dress and lipstick. I like her.
I am a self taught artist with a passion for color! I began drawing at a very early age and as soon as I could, started studying some basic drawing and design techniques. It wasn't until later that I began painting, and ultimately falling in love with the use of creamy acrylics, watercolors and canvas. In my studio you will find a fabulous, giant, custom-made easel that my dad and I recently collaborated on to hold the large canvases that I love creating-although, currently, I am focusing down and working on a series of smaller pieces. My love of the relationship between colors is most often created with jazz streaming through the studio. Some of my favorite artists are Pollock, De Kooning, Rothko and Helen Frankenthaler (and, of course, John Coltrane). I live and work in beautiful South Carolina with my hubs Shannon, my littles, Zach & Carson and a chubby white lab named Tanner.
