The painting is about when a persons ideals or expectations meet reality. We tend to live in world where we are option imprinted with ideas and certain exceptions of what love and sex are supposed to be. This option clashes with our reality to the point where we become overly depressed or overly cynical about the whole thing. A lot of it has to do with what see in books, tv, movies, and even in our music because that's what society's choose formats are for expressing and selling these perfect ideas. The picture has become so obscured and twisted that what we thought was a utopia is really a dystopia because it doesn't live up to that perfection.
I am primarily a self taught artist, drawing as long as I could remember, which really isn't saying much. For the most part the only formal or what I consider formal training I've had was my last two of high school, and my years at school going to San Antonio College. Being part of the Graphic and Fine Arts program really just help me develop everything a little more. After school, I pretty much went back to basics and did everything in my sketch books. Eventually I picked up airbrushing again and started adding in watercolor and have been doing it since then.
