This is a painting inspired by the "Gopi Geeth" from "Bhagavatam" a devotional book of the Hindus in India. Gopi Geeth consists of 19 stanzas and is all about the love the Gopis feel for Krishna the eternal Lover. Their love is not the physical one but of the eternal kind. The Gopis stand for the human soul seeking the All Pervading God with whom it wants to unite to feel the ecstasy of oneness with God, to be liberated from the earthly desires and downfalls. This painting shows Gopis in distress as Krishna is not visible to them, they only here his divine flute. Here's the extract:
"Jayati te dhikam janmanaa vrajah
shrayata Indira shashva datra hi,
Dayita drishyataam dikshu taavaka-
stvayi dhritaasava-stvaam vichinvatey." (Sanskrit Verse)

"The gopis said: O beloved, Your birth in the land of Vraja
has made it exceedingly glorious, and thus
Lakshmi, the goddess of fortune, always resides here.
It is only for Your sake that we,Your devoted servants,
maintain our lives. We have been searching
everywhere for You, so please show Yourself to us."

A self taught artist, art is a passion for me. I have been painting for the last decade and I love to experiment in all mediums and do not like to restrict to a particular “style” or "subject" as I feel that restrains the spirit of art. I paint whenever I can and anything that inspires me, gives me joy ! Nature and all creations in nature are the major sources of my inspiration. If only I could, I would paint all through my waking hours what I dream of painting in my sleep! If there is rebirth I would like to be born an artist again and again!
