The reason I chose the title for this piece is it describes the scene perfectly.
I created this piece for my Imaginative Realism oeuvre.
My inspiration in creating this piece was my interest in astronomy & space exploration.
I envision a time where mankind will have the ability to inhabit others world and perhaps find signs of previous alien civilization.

Artist Statement About His Imaginative Realism Paintings... During the last few years, I've rekindled my love of reading imaginative fiction. This has led to paintings of imaginative works of art. These works are free of art direction and constraints of modern illustration. The paintings have more in common with the 19th century pre-Raphaelite painters. While I continue to paint traditional paintings from life for galleries and clients, I've decided to take what I've learned and apply that to some imaginative works based on my own ideas or from stories I've read over the years. I show this work at IlluXCon, the premiere venue for this kind of painting. These paintings represent my duel interest in Plein Air and Imaginative painting. The reason I create these pieces can be as simple as capturing an effect of light or a reason to express a human emotion---fear, love, joy, etc. In this sense, my work has more in common with 19th Century Narrative painting than Contemporary Illustration.
