"On Peaceful Pond I" was the first version I did of this piece. Unfortunately, it appeared to have met an unfortunate end due to a fixative "accident". I loved this piece -- composition, message and working on the suede mat board. Through my tears at having ruined the first one, I immediately got to work on this second very similar piece, "On Peaceful Pond II"! Much to my surprise, after I finished this one a few days later, I went back again to try to fix the original and was able to rework it somewhat. There are now two versions of this. This one is archivally matted and custom framed!
My love of art dates back to childhood. As a child and teen, I never went anywhere without my bag of "drawing stuff" -- pencils, pens, paper and drawing books. I took all the art classes I could in school. However, as often happens, the demands of family and life took over and, unfortunately, many years went by with very little time to devote to my art.. Ultimately, I reached the point several years ago where I could not exist another day without art in my life. With great joy and much encouragement from my family, art again began to play a significant role in my life. At this time, I also chose to work in color, taking the leap from strictly working in black and white. At this time, I am thrilled to be a full-time artist, working mainly in pastel, colored pencil or ink and sometimes combining these for mixed media. My subject matter varies widely -- whatever catches my eye and imagination. As long as I'm creating, I'm happy! I belong to several area art groups and have participated and sold works in various shows. I look forward to reaching another audience through Vango. I thank you for visiting my portfolio and I hope that as you view my work, the joy I feel in creating it is apparent!
