I had a reference picture of the bricks and beautiful teal paint that I knew I wanted to incorporate into a piece. I decided this gray cat would complete the picture.

This piece was completed with colored pencil on Ampersand Pastelbord, a toothy surface meant for pastels. The artwork is 12 x 12 and the overall piece framed and matted is 20 x 20.

My love of art dates back to childhood. As a child and teen, I never went anywhere without my bag of "drawing stuff" -- pencils, pens, paper and drawing books. I took all the art classes I could in school. However, as often happens, the demands of family and life took over and, unfortunately, many years went by with very little time to devote to my art.. Ultimately, I reached the point several years ago where I could not exist another day without art in my life. With great joy and much encouragement from my family, art again began to play a significant role in my life. At this time, I also chose to work in color, taking the leap from strictly working in black and white. At this time, I am thrilled to be a full-time artist, working mainly in pastel, colored pencil or ink and sometimes combining these for mixed media. My subject matter varies widely -- whatever catches my eye and imagination. As long as I'm creating, I'm happy! I belong to several area art groups and have participated and sold works in various shows. I look forward to reaching another audience through Vango. I thank you for visiting my portfolio and I hope that as you view my work, the joy I feel in creating it is apparent!
