This piece is based on a rough sketch by my daughter. The view is a block away from a friends apartment in Paris. The exquisite view we saw walking back to the apartment every night left an impression on each of us. However the disproportionate view of the Eiffel Tower says more when viewed through a child's eyes. This is meant to be childlike and resemble a coloring book. The mix of colors would add a friendly and warm impression to a child's room.
I have always had a different perspective of the world around me. My mind has always been saturated with color and emotion. I have lived with a persistent need to preserve and illuminate visual and visceral experiences. I grew up in the South, realizing at a young age I was a misfit. Most of my life has been a mixture of extremes, and I have had the fortune of being able to explore life without dogma and restrictions while living in a part of the country with an identity crisis of its own. I have been fortunate to have circled the globe and taught to find beauty everywhere. I first attended art school in Atlanta in my 20's. I have a great love of textiles, fabrics, architecture, literature among many things. I enjoy the freedom of expression through visual, written and spoken form. I am also a child of the theater with a restless spirit.
