I start with the materials, water being the most significant. I allow the images to be created by the spontaneity and fluidity of the paints mixing and moving with each other and the water. Once I perceive a direction to take, I select the materials and techniques best suited to achieve the finished piece. In many cases, one image inspires the next.
About Anthony Sikich Born and raised in a rural area outside Chicago, I attended Western Illinois University. Having received a BA Degree in Fine Art Education at WIU; I originally planned to teach & sell my art. My initial art sales were almost exclusively sold to Interior Designers, Architects & Display Coordinators through small, local Chicago galleries. It was then that I decided to get an Associate Degree of Interior Design at the Ft. Lauderdale Art Institute. It is also upon receiving the degree that I decided to reside in South Florida. My career as an interior designer afforded me opportunities to view, purchase and display a variety of art for my clientele. In many cases, my art and images were used to complement or complete a project. As a designer, I was invited to attend many art and design related trade shows, art exhibits, gallery openings and special events. The attendance to these events kept me informed and up to date on what was happening or trending in both the Arts & Interiors communities. I have been fortunate to have participated in many gallery group shows primarily in Miami. My latest endeavor has been to create some smaller scaled original art work suitable for secondary areas in homes and offices. It has always been challenging to find interesting, affordable and original art for small baths, narrow hallways or stairs, the occassional executive washroom & etc. Efficient, effective matting and framing are key to the success in the final presentation.
