Ready to Hang
I started off this painting by recreating a project we had to do in grade school. By which we had to put many different stripes of color underneath a coating of black, and then scraping the black off uncovering the colors hidden beneath. I remember enjoying that project so much, that I had to try it again with paint instead of crayons like we did in school. After I got that done I splattered the painting with the same colors that were hidden under the black. The results were this space like odyssey that you could almost picture on the windshield inside the Star Trek Enterprise! I was very pleased with this final result as the show was also one of my favorites as a child. Live long and prosper!
My name is Anita and I am a self-taught, professional artist. Having fallen in love with painting in high school when I was 16, I've been painting ever since. Experimenting with many styles over the years, I have found what I am most comfortable and happy painting. Working predominantly in acrylic, I use paint knives and just about anything I can find that will add texture and spread the paint across the canvas, in a new and interesting way. I love color as much as texture and try to create colorful, bold and interesting abstract artwork My style of art is called Automatic Art. Probably the most famous painters associated with automatic art are a Canadian artist group known as Les Automatistes, Salvador Dali and Jackson Pollock. I continue to try new techniques at applying paint in order to make my art unique and intriguing. My work has been well received by friends, acquaintances and art critics.
