I consider myself an expressionist, but with a different aim. Most expressionist artist do not seek to represent objective reality, but rather the subjective feelings and responses that object of reality stimulates within. This particular case is where I am different. My aim is not to depict the subjective emotions and responses that objects of reality have in me, but rather objects that stimulate the viewer's emotions. In other words, it is my desire that a work of art have its own characteristics and not necessarily my characteristics reflected in the work. I do not want to personify my emotions, feelings, or personal ideas into my work. I try to exclude myself from the work of art in order to make the work of art stand on its own. I prefer that the viewer become more involved with a work of art on its own merit as opposed to thinking about the artist.

I began my formal artistic studies at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico where I earned a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 1991. I moved to New York City in 1995 and enrolled in the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, where I earned a master's degree in Fine Arts in 1997. While in school I was influenced by the works of Jackson Pollack and Willem de Kooning, two of the maximum exponents of abstract expressionism. My works could be considered as figurative expressionism, focusing on the human body and not the facial features. My works have been displayed in various museums and galleries of Puerto Rico as well as in New York City.
