Ready to Hang
A thickly layered abstract painting of a sub-terranean landscape. I have been inspired by the layers of soil found in the earth, each with a different colour and texture. In an attempt to mirror the process of erosion paint been applied impasto with a palette knife, scratched off and re-applied giving the painting its unique texture and depth.
The box canvas is painted around the edges and ready for hanging.
Discovering that I love painting in my 30s was quite a surprise to me - I always thought of myself as a writer not a painter. Now I can't stop painting; I always have several ideas in my head for the next piece and am impatient to get on with it. I am curious by nature, always ready to further explore new ideas and impressions. I originally studied literature in London (BA Honours) and then in Oxford (MSt European Literature). Later I also completed a Masters in Counselling. Both fiction and psychotherapy influence my artistic work through the stories and unconscious processes revealing themselves layer by layer. My work has been sold to art collectors internationally with many returning customers. My work is regularly exhibited at local galleries and art fairs in London.
