Ready to Hang
A vibrant, colourful abstract floral painting experimenting with mixed media (acrylic, charcoal, oil pastels and oil). The painting has been built with different layers of paint starting with an acrylic underpainting. I then added another layer with oil pastels and charcoal. The final layer is made of oil with visible brushstrokes.
The box canvas has been painted around the edges in a complementary colour. Hooks and wire are attached and the canvas is ready for hanging.
Discovering that I love painting in my 30s was quite a surprise to me - I always thought of myself as a writer not a painter. Now I can't stop painting; I always have several ideas in my head for the next piece and am impatient to get on with it. I am curious by nature, always ready to further explore new ideas and impressions. I originally studied literature in London (BA Honours) and then in Oxford (MSt European Literature). Later I also completed a Masters in Counselling. Both fiction and psychotherapy influence my artistic work through the stories and unconscious processes revealing themselves layer by layer. My work has been sold to art collectors internationally with many returning customers. My work is regularly exhibited at local galleries and art fairs in London.
