Ready to Hang
An abstract piece with layers of thick oil paint applied with a palette knife. I felt the need to work a little more unstrained with this work and back to explore working with more abstraction. The piece is inspired by mood rather than imagery.
Like all my pieces the work is highly textured to lend 'feel' to the work. 'Diffidence II' is painted around the edges and is ready for hanging.
Discovering that I love painting in my 30s was quite a surprise to me - I always thought of myself as a writer not a painter. Now I can't stop painting; I always have several ideas in my head for the next piece and am impatient to get on with it. I am curious by nature, always ready to further explore new ideas and impressions. I originally studied literature in London (BA Honours) and then in Oxford (MSt European Literature). Later I also completed a Masters in Counselling. Both fiction and psychotherapy influence my artistic work through the stories and unconscious processes revealing themselves layer by layer. My work has been sold to art collectors internationally with many returning customers. My work is regularly exhibited at local galleries and art fairs in London.
