Combining traditional renderings with circular geometry, this series of illustrations are of creatures from the Mesozoic Era. The idea is to simultaneously depict the subject in a realistic and abstract manner. Inside a geometric window you see the animal in circular forms within an environment and as the animal emerges from the window it becomes realistic.
Dinosaurs and other animals of the Mesozoic have always fascinated me as I have been drawing them since I was a young child. They inspire awe and curiosity about our planet and its mysterious past. This series of work has the prehistoric subjects depicted in a modern way.
I was born in Salem, MA and raised in the Greater Boston area. My youth was spent in ice rinks, but I managed to discover my passion for making art. In 2001, I earned a BFA in Graphic Design with Honors from Montserrat College of Art. During the following year, I began work on the “space-ism” concept which produced the first piece for the Icon Series. The concept focuses on creating planes of space within two dimensional artwork while simplifying the imagery to geometric shapes. In addition, I produce drawings, mixed media pieces, and work as a graphic designer. Since 2003, my wife and I have been stuck in the terrifying traffic of Southern California.
