Curator's Note: Check out Andrew's two other 'Movement' pieces in blue and red to create a three-panel statement.
The title of the Movement series comes from the concept of motion seen as water droplets hit a liquid's surface.
I was inspired to create this series from the beauty seen time and again of the infinite shapes created by such movement along a fluid surface.
I wanted to further play into the various colors reflecting on the surface by adding in a modern color palette to an otherwise realism concept. The work by default becomes a modern work for contemplation in knowing its origin.
I have many passions in the academic and creative worlds and thought: there must be a way to fuse the two. Until I figure THAT out, this will have to do! I have trained in a number of liquid (latex, watercolor, oil, acrylic, ink), dry (charcoal, chalk, chalk pastel, oil pastel, pencil, pen) and alternative (tea, wine, red clay) mediums and studied in figures, landscape, surrealism, abstract, gesture, and print.
