Ready to Hang
I really like sunsets and with this piece I really wanted to branch out into a color I’m not used to painting which in this image is yellow and orange. I like the way structures cast their dark shadows over the water.
This image is inspired by a photograph of the London Tower Bridge.
I started this painting with a bright yellow wash gradually adding orange and then red hues toward the center. I then added the backdrop using a light brown branching out into darker colors toward the edges. I then laid out the foreground structures using near-black and then added highlights where needed using a palette knife.
I am a self-representing artist in Southern Colorado and have been involved in graphic and digital art for 20 years. For the past few years I have been focusing on fine art and painting (especially abstracts and landscapes). My upcoming works will include purely abstract pieces as well as abstract infused landscapes and cityscapes. When an image comes to my mind I have to create it or it will become an obsession. Painting and creating art is very liberating. It is perhaps one of the most natural forms of expression that I use to share my own unique perspective.
