My aim is to leave a truth, to capture an expression of my soul at a point in time and space. Just as no two moments are ever the same, we live in continual shift, and my art reflects this ever-changing reality. One day it’s sunny, another rainy. Maybe you awake to grey skies, it rains some, and then the clouds drift away leaving behind an empty sky filled by the sun’s light. This mirrors my inner reality; living each day unaware of how my attitude may shift, a thought might pop into my head, or the unexpected may alter my plans.
I paint in oils using color relationships, a variety of applications, collage and at times limiting my palette to help convey my ideas. I begin with an emotion, idea, or color allowing the painting to grow organically through intuition, imagination, and spontaneity. In the end, I want the viewer to use their senses and imagination to discover their own images and meaning within the painting.
I grew up in several seaside towns along the east and west coast of the United States. I received my BFA from Radford University in 2013 and currently reside in Alexandria, VA.
