This is part of a small series about cities.

Like the individuals who make up a city's residents, the city itself is always changing. Buildings are knocked down and other buildings erected, creating a constantly shifting world which subtly (or not so subtly) influences the people living there. Like a palimpsest, traces of the old city remain in photos and in memories, or in the case of ancient cities, in the evidence collected by archaeologists.
This is a tribute to cities of the past and the present.

Two-plate Solarplate etching/relief with monoprint. Varied Edition 1/2. Paper size is 10in x 10.25in.

I am an artist and printmaker living in Portland, Oregon. I have always been interested in human psychology and behavior, and I explore this in art. I love traveling and learning about other cultures. Seeing the wide range of human life and possibility inspires me to examine my own life and behavior and to question how we humans construct reality. Although I am often inspired by forms in the world around me, I usually work from internal inspiration, bringing imagery from dreams and the unconscious. My work tends toward the abstract to encourage viewers to collaborate in the art-making by bringing their own meaning to the work, as informed by their own individual experiences. I love when a piece of art or writing can encourage different thoughts depending on what is happening in our lives.
