Ipanema beach in black and white. A dream, a fantasy I captured through atmospheric charcoal and surreal, neon pastels. Seeing with my eyes closed.
My art displays an exuberance for natural life and growth as well as its inevitable decay; its impermanence captured on paper. I am deeply inspired by tropical plant life, microorganisms, and various animals. These fascinating subjects are used to describe my personal triumphs, miseries, and everything in between. I also have a passion for using many different types of media including charcoal, pastels, colored pencils, watercolor, collage, printmaking, etc. Be sure to also check out my website at allisonpatera.com.
