The initial inspiration for this piece was simply the shells, which came out of a seafood soup at a Mexican restaurant.. The composition rolled out then a bit at a time. I wanted there to be plenty for the viewer to discover, (just as I did) through ambiguity, contrast, and movement. I love working in this visual poetry.
Tulsa is my home. I've been painting for decades, and am active in the rapidly growing arts community here. I am the director of the gallery at our local Equality center, OkEq. Hanging a show is almost as fulfilling as creating my own work. I have a big complicated loving family, One big dog and one small cat.
