Drinking coffee and listening to monks chanting while contemplating what to do when the current retro-grade cycle ends and everything goes back to being your own fault…damn…looks peaceful at least…the struggle started as soon as the thought became clear…peaceful? “I am Beast,” she whispered from off the edge, “and I am coming to wake you up.” I felt the need to unburden myself of the fears, the worries, the past pain’s and share some of my story with her. She listened deeply as the hours flew by. I felt worn out from the unloading and uploading. That’s when she started talking….She sang a timeless song called “I don’t know what I’m doing and I am compelled to keep doing it.” She told a fable of an Emperor with no clothes that said “fuck it, I like the wind on my bare butt”, painted himself blue and tattooed a large bulls-eye on his back with the words “I double dog dare you” under it. She called the stars for lunch. Pulled out the prayer beads after she licked her fingers clean. We spent the afternoon with Cat Stevens and Jackson Brown. She has good taste in music, she demanded Joni Mitchell be played after Doctor Hook and we giggled over the silliness of modern day puritanical pursuits in clean living and enlightened paranoia. She finally wore me out and we called it a night. Pushing the wine across the table singing, “I will not behave, Viva fire in the belly” to the tune “I feel pretty….Oh so, pretty.” I loved working with her as she told me the story of creation. We talked about the options available for the last story...we have time, she said, we have time. She has endless stories to tell.
