I am Canadian painter and sculptor, work with acrylics and oils on canvases, also create plaster on wood reliefs, or three-dimensional paintings, as I call them. I am truly passionate about the amazing beauty of nature, processing it through my eyes, my mind and my hands to the stillness of canvases and plaster, aspire to express not the picture, but the life itself, without forgetting the fabulousness of human presence in it.

On canvases I work with brushes, palette knifes and finger touch when needed.

Alexander Koltakov was born and have been living for 27 years in Crimea - the place is well-known for its fine mountains and sea landscapes. Thanks to his grandfather, he became acquainted and fell in love with painting in an early childhood. During the school years, he studied and painted at an Art Studio, and after leaving school, he continued to paint, improving skills, and engaged in figured woodcarving. In 1990 he immigrated to Israel, and 17 years later, moved to Canada. Currently, he lives and works as a full-time artist in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
