Ready to Hang
Another in a series of fluid happy paintings. The inspiration behind this artwork was to make a repeating pattern of assorted colors on a flat surface, allowing them to slowly move on their own. Described by one of my collectors as "That's got a cool sixties mod look to it. I can envision this hanging in Roger Sterling's office (Mad Men)."
As with any of my abstracts on cradled hardwood panels, this can hang in any of 4 orientations providing you 4 paintings for the cost of 1.
As a printer for the past 30 years, ink and color is an all day, everyday thing. My inspiration comes from simple forms and bright colors. I chose acrylic medium for its quick drying properties and wide array of gels and mediums for creating different and interesting textures and movements. My unique technique called “Fluid Acrylic Happiness” is taking pigments from water based flexo ink, mixing it to a fluid medium, and create flows of color on all kinds of supports that cure to a high gloss finish. The process is controlling a pour from a cup or squeeze bottle and allowing it to slowly move and self level on it’s own or by means of manipulating it with various tools or tilting the support to get a more aggressive movement of color. The colorful and organic paintings evokes thought and lets your mind wander, seeing imagery within the flow of colors that bring happiness to your mind and soul. No matter how the painting is viewed, there will always be something different to see.
