This piece captures textures and colors that were witnessed in a dream. I had previously emphasized stricter compositions, but decided to experiment with freer expression; the unguided result actually bears an appreciable similarity to previously seen images. There's always a question of where preferences arise from, and I gained some measure of personal insight with this piece (although I wouldn't stab at any specific meaning -- I'm only describing my observation of the creative process).
My name is Aaron, and my art practice involves investigating tensions in color and form. I'm innately drawn to artistic contrasts that parallel those inherent in myself and my environment. Reconciliation of opposites in nature often results in transcendence of the whole over its components, and that's also my artistic goal. The products of my effort often surprise me, as they frequently arise from spontaneous moments of intuitive effort.
