From a limited edition of 10 archival photographs. Absorbed in her bucolic surroundings and late afternoon sunlight, Hope is captured in vivid tones of yellow and green. A gentle vignette of softly focused vegetation frames the composition. Sometimes a serene location lies just a stone’s throw from the road. The sounds of civilization fading in the distance, it felt like stepping through a portal to a different planet, full of lush yellow flowering plants waiting to be explored. A perfect sunset sauntered through the organic inhabitants of this space, swallowed by the wild.
A K Nicholas was born in the United States and raised in the Middle East. Always at ease with visual expression, as a second generation artist, childhood included exposure to galleries and museums in dozens of countries. Although formally trained in painting and drawing, he chose photography as best suited to convey his ideas. "I feel the most successful images leave the viewer either unsure or unconcerned as to the precise process of production."
