A deserted bridge, a creative model, and an imposing concrete slab. Emily strikes a clever pose and is framed by curvature receding into the background. Her dynamic figure stretches as if sliding off into the distance. She extends her arms in an admiration of the texture of the concrete that is unnoticed yet unapologetic of her exit. From my Industrial Nudes theme. This collection of images sets the nude form against unnatural environments of concrete, chrome, mechanization, and grit. The series contemplates the contrast between the mechanical and the organic, the clean and the gritty.
A K Nicholas was born in the United States and raised in the Middle East. Always at ease with visual expression, as a second generation artist, childhood included exposure to galleries and museums in dozens of countries. Although formally trained in painting and drawing, he chose photography as best suited to convey his ideas. "I feel the most successful images leave the viewer either unsure or unconcerned as to the precise process of production."
